Ensuring Harmony
-
Preparing
Your Four-legged Family for the Arrival of a New Baby |

More and more couples
make the first “baby” in the household one with four legs. This is often a good
idea because it allows couples to get a better feel for one another’s parenting
styles. However, many conflicts can and do arise once children are born into the family. Prevention of these problems is the key to ensuring harmony.
Once behavior patterns become established, they are difficult (though not
impossible) to change. Also, often help is not sought until the issue is
serious and damage has been done to the pet-owner bond. This class was
developed to help parents anticipate and prevent potential problems, before
child birth, to ensure harmony from the moment mom and baby walk in the door,
through the toddler stage and into adolescence.
In 2002, my life changed. I was living with my sister and she had her first
baby...my first nephew. In a small, bungalow style home lived three adults,
one infant, a German Shepherd, two Dutch Shepherds, a mixed breed dog and two
cats. Life was harmonious until this perfect child's arrival, and through no
fault of his own, things turned to chaos.
Ensuring Harmony was created through those experiences.
